Cupress macrocarpa Gold crest / Lemon cypress (H:35cm)
UGX70,000.00
It thrives well in full sun to partial shade. Too little light will kill the plant
The plant doesn’t like very fertile soil. It’s adapted to grow in poor, sandy, well-draining soils.
It’s easily drought tolerant when fully established. When grown in a pot, water thoroughly but allow soil to dry in between waterings
What may be the cause of browning in cupress gold crest?
Many brown patches are likely to result from adverse growing conditions such as drought, frost, waterlogging or cold, drying winds, all of which could inhibit regeneration from the trimmed foliage.
If they are going brown gradually from the bottom upwards then it is likely to be dryness at the roots. If the brown patches appear all over the trees at random then its is more likely to be Cupress aphids.
The main thing to remember is that most conifers will not grow back from old wood. So if you prune them now, you could cut back too far and the plant will never recover. If you really want to give nature a helping hand, you could consider applying a general purpose fertilize
